We are delighted to announce that Stori Patron Ruth Dodsworth has been awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) by His Majesty King Charles III, in recognition of her remarkable services to survivors of domestic abuse.
The honour was bestowed at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, 9 December 2026.
Ruth’s Courage and Advocacy
Ruth has demonstrated extraordinary courage in speaking openly about her own experiences of domestic abuse and coercive control. By sharing her story, she has given strength and hope to countless survivors who may otherwise have felt silenced. Her honesty has helped dismantle stigma, raise awareness, and shine a vital light on the hidden realities of abuse.
Her commitment extends far beyond sharing her own story. As an ambassador for numerous domestic abuse services, including Stori, Ruth has worked tirelessly to amplify survivor voices, campaign for systemic change, and ensure that these critical issues remain at the forefront of public conversation.

A Patron We Are Proud Of
At Stori, we are deeply honoured to have Ruth as our Patron. Her compassion, resilience, and determination embody the values we hold at the heart of our work.
We were especially proud to welcome Ruth to our Celebration of the Spectrum Project in 2024, where she emphasised the importance of education and awareness of domestic abuse in schools. Her presence and advocacy highlighted the urgent need to equip young people with knowledge and understanding to help prevent abuse and foster safer communities.
Ruth’s recognition with an OBE is not only a celebration of her individual achievements but also a powerful reminder of the importance of standing alongside survivors and advocating for safer futures.
Her work continues to inspire us all, and we are immensely proud to support her in this journey.
Andrew Jones, Director of Development at Stori said “Ruth’s courage has given survivors strength and sparked conversations that save lives. We are proud to stand alongside her as she continues to drive change and inspire safer futures for all those who have experienced domestic abuse.’
